As you may be aware, there were a number of new J1000 Requirements introduced in 2024 to retain fairness and competition within the sport and to re-affirm the aim of the series to develop Driver Talent from a young age.
This has proven to be a massive success, but we now need to remind competitors that all new build Cars, replacement Engines, Gearboxes or other components require inspection before competing in 2025.
Technical Compliance Certification for all J1000 Cars: Mandatory for ALL MI Events.
Whether competing on a Forest Rally, Rallysprint or Autocross, all J1000 cars being entered on MI events are required to have been checked and certified by the MI Scrutineering Team in advance of arriving at the event.
The Minor Entrant Licence holder who has entered the Junior driver in the event will be responsible for the Technical Compliance of the car which has been entered into any MI event by them.
There will be a J1000 Technical Compliance Inspection Day held on Saturday February 15th, 2025, from 10 to 4pm. The location of this inspection will be selected to best accommodate competitors that have signed up before Sunday February 9th, this time is needed to secure an suitable location.
There will be a fee of €150 per car for inspection, and this can be booked at the link here: 2025 J1000 Technical Inspection Registration. All registrations will be deemed incomplete until payment is received.
If you cannot attend on February 15th you may have a car inspected at a later date by appointment only with the MI Scrutineering team. Dates and availability are not guaranteed though, so to assure that a car is fully ready to go in time to compete it is the responsibility of the competitor to complete the registration as soon as possible.
To avail of an alternative date and to arrange a time and date before the opening Forest Rally of the year, the Carlow Forest Rally on March 23rd, please complete the above Registration Form and our J1000 Technical Liaison Officer Ed Muldoon will arrange with you. Again, and we can't stress this enough, but it is important to get signed up ASAP to arrange a date and to avoid the disappointment of not being able to compete due to an incomplete Technical Inspection.
The J1000 Technical Regulation (2025) will form the basis of the criteria which need to be achieved.
All aspects of the car will be open for inspection. All necessary bolts must be pre-drilled to facilitate the addition of a seals. This must be done prior to attending any inspection. All cars must be presented as they would be for pre event scrutineering with the exception of the gearbox not being fitted.
The following items will be inspected and sealed if deemed legally acceptable;
1. Engine: A bore & stroke test will be carried out.
2. Gearbox: Gears checked, and final drive calculated. Only a gearbox which is out of the car can be inspected. A car presented which has its gearbox fitted cannot be inspected or sealed. More than one gearbox may be presented for inspection and sealing on the day.
3. Throttle bodies/Air intake: Will be measured and compared to original part.
4. Catalytic Converters: Visual inspection.
